I absolutely love Thailand and have been going there every year for 15 years now. It was my first Asian country, which might be why. But I think it’s actually the perfect introduction to Asia. It’s like a blend of Asia and Europe, the most civilised, if I can put it that way. Singapore is certainly more developed, but it’s also considerably more expensive.
I’ve both travelled around Thailand and simply relaxed there, gone alone and with family, tried all types of transport, stayed in guesthouses/hotels/villas. In short, I’ve got loads of experience.

What makes a good travel guide different from a poor one? Personal experience. It’s quite difficult for one person to maintain several destinations.
I bring in authors who have expert knowledge in their specific areas. Valerio Kutcher has been an author and member of my team since 2013. He lived and worked in Thailand for four years, spent seven months living in Bali and Nusa Penida, and has visited the Maldives, Germany and the Czech Republic.
He regularly visits the countries featured in our guides as part of annual work trips and updates the information in our articles.
