Chaweng Noi Beach, nestled next to its larger sibling, Chaweng Beach, boasts similar stunning sea views and fine sand. The beach stretches about 0.7 miles (1.1 km) in length, with a width varying between 30 to 130 feet (10 to 40 meters) in different sections.
The terrain includes areas where waves have formed small sand cliffs, reminiscent of the southern, rocky part of Lamai Beach.
Beach Overview
The sand at Chaweng Noi is almost white, though not uniformly so. Some areas have patches of coarse yellow sand or large dunes, with occasional flat stones scattered throughout. The main surface, however, is fine and white.
The beach is kept clean along its entire length, including the less appealing section near the dried-out river mouth and the rocks separating Chaweng Noi from Chaweng Beach.
Chaweng Noi is always bustling with people, except during the low season. It’s a popular and well-developed spot with great infrastructure, a beautiful sea, and stunning marine views.

Swimming
On the map, Chaweng Noi runs from north to south. The southern 650 feet (200 meters) feature shallow waters with a rocky and coral-strewn bottom, along with silt and marine life. This shallow area ends near the Impiana Resort Chaweng Noi, Koh Samui.
Further along, up to The Imperial Samui Beach Resort and the rocks opposite it, the water entry is completely clean and free of stones.
Beyond The Imperial Samui Resort, the beach’s width and height fluctuate. Near the rocks separating Chaweng Noi from Chaweng Beach, there are colonies of seaweed.
Tides have minimal impact on the beach’s characteristics due to its depth. About 30 feet (10 meters) from the shore, the depth reaches 3 to 5 feet (1 to 1.5 meters). Some hotels have marked off their beachfront waters with buoys.
Sunbeds and Shade
Sunbeds and umbrellas are available for rent at Chaweng Noi, starting at 50 baht each. If you don’t want to spend money, you can find a spot under one of the many trees on the beach. However, these trees are far from the water and within hotel premises, so during peak tourist times, shade can be hard to come by.

Amenities
Chaweng Noi is situated along the Ring Road, which leaves a triangular area between the shore and the road where all the beach hotels are located. On the other side of the road is a mountain.
The beach’s infrastructure is contained within this triangle, with no shops or modern conveniences within a 1.2-mile (2 km) radius. All amenities are available at Chaweng Beach. Nearby attractions include:
- Elephant Rock
- The Cliff restaurant viewpoint
The beach offers a variety of water sports, including kayak rentals, jet skis, sea trips, and snorkeling. There are both hotel and private restaurants and bars along the shore.
A standout spot is Samui Beach Bar, a large venue with its own parking and beach access, complete with a bar, shower, sunbeds, umbrellas, hammocks, pool, and full beach infrastructure.
Accommodation
All of Chaweng Noi’s infrastructure is within its hotels, which offer a range of services to their guests. Over a dozen large hotels and resorts are situated along the shore, with no private houses.
There are a few resorts and villas in the mountains beyond the Ring Road, but they are expensive. For more affordable options, you’ll need to look around Chaweng Beach.
In recent years, the hillsides above Chaweng Noi have seen extensive development, turning it into a luxurious residential area. If you choose Chaweng Noi for your vacation, ensure your realtor checks that no construction is happening near your villa.
Notable hotels on the beach include:
- Vana Belle, A Luxury Collection Resort, Koh Samui 5
- Fair House Villas & SPA, Koh Samui – Sha Extra Plus 5
- New Star Beach Resort 4
- Sheraton Samui Resort – Sha Extra Plus 5
How to Find the Beach
Access to Chaweng Noi Beach is through the properties of various hotels, with no free public access points. The most convenient access point is through Impiana Resort Chaweng Noi, which has ample parking for motorbikes and friendly staff.
Once you pass through the lobby and inner courtyard with the pool and reach the beach, it’s best to turn left and walk for another five minutes. This area has more shade and is further from the shallow waters.
Alternatively, you can enter through Vana Belle, A Luxury Collection Resort, Koh Samui, or Samui Beach Bar, which offers free parking, showers, sunbeds, umbrellas, a bar, restaurant, hammocks, pool, and full beach amenities without needing to interact with hotel staff.
