A mostly well-maintained small public beach that combines shady paths with an open sandy area, a small sunset viewing spot, a secluded gazebo and a rocky cape. This is the most accessible beach in Pratamnak. The crowd here is generally respectable and quiet. Half of the beach is well-kept and clean, while the other half is nearly abandoned.
Beach Overview
Just over 1650 feet (500ΠΌ) of straight shoreline, varying in width from 130 feet (40ΠΌ) down to an average of about 65 feet (20ΠΌ). Pratamnak Beach is accessed via Pratamnak’s 5th Street, which can be considered the main and central street. So the beach is also the main one for this area. Although Pratamnak also has Cosy Beach on the other side of the cape, and a small beach by the Cabbages & Condoms cafΓ© and Asia Hotel (it might seem private and closed off, but it’s not – access is quite easy).
Still, Pratamnak Beach is the most accessible of all beaches in this area. Where the road leads to it, there’s a wide sandy area with clean sand and no shade. To the left, trees grow with secluded paths beneath them, and further on, past a small rocky spit, begins Dongtan Beach, followed by Jomtien.
In the other direction, to the right, are more neglected areas with rubbish, as well as a gazebo and large, sharp rocks in the water. From these rocks, there’s a view of cottages in the distance, which is the territory of the Cabbages & Condoms cafΓ© and hotel. In the right, northern part of Pratamnak Beach, there are few people and you can sit at sunset almost alone.
However, the Pratamnak area regularly sees attacks on tourists (it’s quite an upscale area with plenty to pinch), so it’s not worth getting too relaxed or lingering too long.
Swimming
Since the beach is a direct continuation of Dongtan, the same applies to it as can be said about Dongtan. The nuance is that to the right of where 5th Street meets the beach, there are rocks in the water. In the centre is a buoy-marked swimming area. At the border with Dongtan, to the left, there’s a small rocky cape, but nearby the entry into the water is convenient and sandy.
In the centre of the beach is sand, with a rather steep entry when the tide is high, and a more gradual one during low tide. During the off-season, from the end of February, strong winds blow, waves are common and all sorts of rubbish washes up on the shore. This applies not only to Pratamnak Beach, but also to Dongtan and to some extent to Jomtien.
Sunbeds and Shade
Directly opposite the entrance is a large open area, with plenty of greenery on the sides, palm trees and other trees grow, and under them are sunbeds with umbrellas. There’s pleasant shade closer to Dongtan as well. To the right of the beach entrance, behind the trees, there’s another large open area and a gazebo. Sunbeds are available in the centre of the beach and to the left, in the direction of Dongtan. To the right is what you might call a wild beach.

Amenities
On 5th Street, just before the beach entrance, there’s a 7-Eleven. Further along this street are shops, a market and cafΓ©s – all tourist infrastructure. On the beach itself, you can only find drinks and very simple snacks brought directly to your sunbed, plus occasional vendors walking by. Nothing more.
In the right part of the beach, you can have picnics as it’s more of a wild beach. On the alley closer to Dongtan, there’s more tourist infrastructure. There’s massage, for example. But generally, the beach is small and more for relaxation, not partying. Pratamnak Beach borders Dongtan Beach (to get there, go left from where 5th Street meets the sea), and on the cape that separates the beaches there are windsurfs and jet skis.
Also located there is Pattaya Park water park with a tower that offers excellent views of the city. From it, you can also descend by cable car directly to the sea.
Accommodation
From the north, sort of on the corner, on a small cliff stands one of Pattaya’s most expensive hotels – Golden Cliff, and next to it is the Royal Beach View Suites.
In the centre of the beach:
- Centara Grand Phratamnak Resort Pattaya
- Adriatic Palace Pattaya
From the south, towards Dongtan Beach and Pattaya Park, there are several more large expensive hotels:
- The Heritage Pattaya Beach Resort
- Majestic Residence Pattaya
All of these are large expensive hotel complexes and first-line condos.
Along Pratamnak’s 5th Street and around it, deeper in, there’s much more accommodation. Both hotels and condos for long-term stays. There are few rental houses in Pratamnak, at least at affordable prices; these are mainly expensive villas and mansions. In general, Pratamnak is considered an expensive, “European” tourist area.
On the map, you can see that Pratamnak Beach and the neighbouring Dongtan are shown as one beach. Everything related to Pratamnak Beach is above and to the left of Pattaya Park water park on the map.
How to find the beach
Getting to the beach is very simple: Pratamnak’s 5th Street leads directly to it. If you drive along the 5th towards the sea and turn right immediately after 7-Eleven, then less than 330 feet (100ΠΌ) after the Centara hotel, right after Mom Chalay, there will be another access road to the beach – on the left. Public transport doesn’t run through Pratamnak, so either take a taxi or walk.
Unless, of course, you’re staying nearby. Also good options for getting around Pattaya are taxis (both cars and tuk-tuks) and motorcycle taxis.
You can also get to Pratamnak Beach via Dongtan Beach, the beginning of which can be reached from the city centre by regular tuk-tuk. Along Dongtan, however, the road is not drivable; it’s a pedestrian zone.
