Pan Beach in Krabi: A Long and Completely Untamed Beach
Views7Modified by
This deserted and quiet beach is an excellent place for relaxation and contemplation, offering the beauty of pristine nature just 6 miles (10 km) from Ao Nang. However, there is little tourist infrastructure here, aside from a few small hotels with bamboo huts.
This beach borders Nopparat Thara Beach to the east but is separated from it by a river. Three beaches—Ao Nang, Nopparat Thara, and Pan Beach—divide the large bay into three parts. Pan Beach is the most deserted and secluded of the three. There is practically nothing here.
Well, almost nothing—just a couple of houses and a few basic bungalow-style hotels. But that’s all. There are only fishing boats, a great view of distant islands and coastal cliffs, light sand, and casuarina trees, occasionally interspersed with palm trees and other vegetation.
It’s very empty and quiet here. In the morning and evening, there’s usually no one around. On the west side, the beach ends where a river flows into the sea (or bay), and to the east, it’s separated from Nopparat Thara by another river, near which small shrub-covered rocks protrude from the water.
Swimming Conditions
Entering the water at this beach is a long, shallow experience. The sea remains knee-deep far, far out. This can be convenient for swimming if you prefer not to jump in the waves.
Like the neighboring beaches, Pan Beach experiences significant tides, during which the sea recedes so far from the shore that reaching deeper water becomes almost impossible.
During low tide, the exposed seabed is smooth, free of large stones, and full of crab holes. The sand on the beach is light and grayish, with a bit of silt on the seabed near the shore.
Sunbeds and Shade
There are no sunbeds with umbrellas for rent on the beach—there’s nothing but sand. However, there are trees along the entire beach, including tall, sprawling casuarinas that provide good shade.
You can hide from the sun in this natural shade during the day. In the mornings, the entire stretch of the beach is in the shade of the trees. Sunbeds might be found only near the resorts.

Amenities
There is absolutely nothing on the beach. Just the sea, sand, and trees, along with a few basic bungalow hotels. But there’s no other infrastructure. So if you’re heading there, it’s best to bring water and some snacks.
Accommodation
The accommodation on this beach consists mainly of bungalows. The names speak for themselves:
Pan Beach Bungalows Thap Prik
Sand Beach Bungalow
J2B Beach Bungalows
These are simple huts, not luxury beach resorts or upscale hotel complexes.
You can reach the beach either by taxi or your own transport. From Ao Nang, take the same road that leads to Klong Muang Beach and village.
For example, head along Ao Nang’s waterfront towards Nopparat Thara Beach, then continue along Nopparat Thara until the road turns inland to the right.
Follow the signs for Klong Muang. After the bridge over the river, turn left onto Road 6024. From Road 6024, there will be another left turn onto a small forest road. This turn is about 6 miles (10 km) from Ao Nang.
The turn is inconspicuous, marked only by a small house on the left side of the road and a path leading into the forest. This narrow road winds through the forest and leads to a fork.
It’s better to take the right path—the road will run parallel to the beach, with bungalow hotels on the left. Near the Pan Bungalows Hotel, there’s a descent directly onto the beach, which is about its midpoint.
The atmosphere is private. The service is very good. Speaks sweetly.Friendly staff, clean rooms, suitable for families who don't like chaos. 10/10 will definitely repeat ❤️
Thank you to the whole team for your hospitality! Heavenly place, a real break to have been there we felt like home it was a joy! Thank you from the whole family, we will come back without hesitation!! 👍👍👍👍
The service is very good, the rooms are very clean, the atmosphere is good and private, the food is delicious, I really like this place, the nature is good.
In a few words : perfect place to stay, book now !The place is isolated from people, you have direct access to a beach with only people from the resort. Low tide allows you to walk to the island in front of you.You should wait for high tide to go for a swim. The place where we stayed was great, had AC, no hot water but water is at air temperature, you don't need it.Isolated but you can rent a scooter from reception for few days and drive to where you need, meaning that you have the benefits of being isolated and have access to the restaurants and markets (15 minutes drive). We stayed 3 nights and it was perfect for us, very relaxing. I totally recommend this place !
First the good parts: unbeatable location if you want peace and idyllic scenery, absolutely beautiful beach. Some stray dogs that hang around the resort that are largely friendly (no aggresive dogs, just one or two that keep to themselves a bit more), two in particular really gentle and lovely with people, spent a fair bit of time petting and hanging out with them. No bad habits such as begging for food. Accommodation fantastic, spotless, simple, very comfortable beds with good WiFi and TV. The environment is laid back, relaxed and very chilled. Tide does go out far but also deep enough for kayaking (free) and swimming when in. Stunning views and beach. Cleaning staff all lovely. Now the bad. We had animals (fairly convinced mice/rat) in the roof that were loud at night. We told the staff the next morning, but I didn't see anything being done. Next night 1:30am much louder and clearly deeper into the structure of the room, separated by one piece plywood. Impossible to sleep. Could only find cleaning staff at 2am to help by knocking on various doors around the kitchen. No senior staff or managers on site. Obviously little to be done. No spare rooms. We left to try and find another hotel, all fully booked. My wife and I then slept on the beach 3am to 7am. Next morning receptionist informed. She spoke to manager (allegedly off site in bangkok) and offered half refund for that evening - protested this and eventually given full refund. My impression is that if no issues encountered, then this is a great place to stay. But if any problems overnight, for example, there is no one to contact, no numbers, no contingencies. Was a shame nothing done the day after we informed them of the rat problem, and was felt it was shrugged/laughed off. The fact we were only offered half refund for needing to leave the premises and eventually sleep on their beach was a bit shocking. It wasn't so much the rat/mouse that was the issue but the poor and non proactive response to it.
